About us

Riches Editorial Services brings together a number of publishing professionals located in the West of Scotland. Between us we offer a wide range of services based on many years of publishing experience.

Christopher Riches has worked in publishing for over 40 years, both for Oxford University Press and for HarperCollins Publishers. His particular expertise is in reference publishing. From 1994 to 2006 he was Editorial Director for Text Reference with HarperCollins Publishers, based in their Glasgow office. Before joining Collins in 1989, he spent 13 years with Oxford University Press, where he worked on education and reference titles, including nearly five years as Publishing Manager of OUP in Hong Kong. He left Collins in the summer of 2006, and established Riches Editorial Services to meet the editorial and publishing needs of publishers. He has undertaken a wide range of writing and editing commissions for reference and trade publishers.

Catherine Gaunt has over 20 years’ experience of editing and writing educational textbooks and reference books, for a range of clients including Pearson Longman, Heinemann, HarperCollins, Chambers, Times Books, Facts on File, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, ISTE and Diagram Visual Information. She wrote Forensic Science Experiments on File and Physics Experiments on File (each book contains 60 science experiments which she designed to cover basic concepts relating to the school curriculum; both books were published by Facts on File), and she co-authored Physics Student Textbook Grade 10 (Pearson Education/Ethiopian Ministry of Education).

For the last nine years she has regularly edited books and papers for the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies and has particular expertise in academic works on energy studies.

Nancy Bailey  has worked for over 30 years as an editor and has skills in InDesign and database management. She began her career in publishing with Longman Cartermill in 1985 handling the in-house editing and academic liaison for the groundbreaking British Expertise in Science and Technology database, the first to bring together commerce and cutting-edge research in UK universities. She has specialized in the production of academic monographs and reference works since 1993. She has developed expertise with a variety of software packages mounted on a Mac platform, and can take a book from design specification to final edit in InDesign. She has undertaken work for numerous publishers including HarperCollins and Chambers, and has played a central role in the production of every edition of The Times Good University Guide since 1999.

By combining our skills, using both Mac and PC based systems, we provide a high-quality service to our clients.
