Project management

We can handle the detailed project management of books and series, including:

  • Working with authors and freelance writers
  • Quality control of material submitted
  • Scheduling workflow to meet deadlines
  • Managing freelance editors and proofreaders
  • Maintaining an editorial overview of any project
  • Working directly with designers and typesetters

We can provide a full editorial service, having access to a pool of experienced freelancers, with particular strengths in the sciences, mathematics, social sciences and history.

We also have significant experience of coordinating and completing multi-author titles to demanding schedules (for example, The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, published annually, involves multiple authors, 200 information suppliers, freelance editors and designers and a three-month schedule from first material to printed book).

In addition, we manage the editing and preparation up to print of the Oxford Energy Forum, a quarterly publication of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, as well as multi-author books published by the Institute in conjunction with Oxford University Press.

We also helped create and manage Birlinn’s Limited Edition series of classic Scottish titles, in co-operation with the National Library of Scotland  (‘undoubtedly one of the great publishing projects so far of the twenty-first century’, Alan Taylor, Scottish Review of Books, 2013).
